Community Goods — Is it worth the hype?
Community Goods, Los Angeles, CA
Welcome back to The Bar is Low! I decided to review a coffee shop again this week instead of a bar because honestly the vibe felt right last time. For some reason I feel like I have more to write when it’s about a coffee shop. With all of that said, I do think that I will get back to bars next week! This week I decided to write about Community Goods, a pretty well known hot spot in West Hollywood. I would say it’s slightly infamous lately because of its trendy nature and high prices, but I do actually really enjoy it. Let’s get into it!
Community Goods opened in 2023, and I actually randomly tried it one day while in LA before the hoards arrived. I walked right up and got my coffee all within 10 minutes. Now, the line is always present and I’m sure you wouldn’t have that quick of an experience. It’s kind of hard to find the history of it. I don’t think they have a website besides one to sell a coloring book, but there isn’t an about page. It quickly skyrocketed to notoriety because unfortunately Justin Bieber posted it saying it was his favorite coffee shop (LOL). That’s really the most information I could find.

Quality of drinks - 5/5: I hate to give them clout since they’re so trendy right now, but the drinks are really good here. I've had a couple different drinks, but my favorite is the Spanish latte! The matcha is also really good, and a lot of people love the maple cappuccino. The food is also great as well! The breakfast sandwiches on Hawaiian rolls are great.
Customer service - 5/5: Okay so, I’m giving them a 5/5 here because they’re so sweet and always super helpful if you don’t know what to get, and also they’re going to be low in seating and parking.
Seating - 3/5: There’s a small space of seating inside and outdoor seating, but truthfully it’s always so busy that honestly it doesn’t even matter if they have it. Unless you’re there on a chill day, don’t plan on sitting around!
Parking - 3/5: Parking can be rough. Unfortunately, that’s just LA though so I can’t hold it against them…but I will a little bit.

Overall vibe - 4.5/5: Great coffee, cute spot, and super sweet employees! However, knocking points off because it is so trendy and its always a bit of a scene to go.
Final score
After tallying all that up, Community Goods lands at an 82% or in other words, a B!
Fun fact
My friend got hit by a car outside of Community Goods.
Thanks for tuning in to The Bar is Low! I’m having a lot of fun switching up the vibe and reviewing coffee shops. As always, drop me a comment if you have any suggestions for where I should check out next. See you next week!
